A blog for teachers

This is a blog for teachers who work at the British Council. As you can see, at the moment there are some links to useful language learning websites and blogs, a flash movie/interactive game drop down menu, and an exercise drop down menu.

The idea of this blog is to help teachers sift through the plethora of internet resources, and actually find things they can use productively in the classroom. In order to do this, I have decided to dedicate the blog to specific language areas. For example, the first session will be on "interactive exercises to practice the present perfect".

As I find them, I will put the exercises on the "Exercises" drop down menu. The actual blogging bit will hopefully be your comments on any exercises you think are really good/bad, and of course, any suggestions. I am not restricting this session to any time limit at the moment, as I do not know how things will unfold.

Hello. This Blog is a much-needed initiative. And I'd like to share with you the Rome EFL Blog for Students and The MetroZine, the e-zine for English students wherever, but under the aegis of students at the British Council Rome. For podcasting, check out 'Speakers' Corner'.

When podcasts start appearing here, I would very much like to link your Blog to the Rome EFL Blog and the MetroZine, if I may.

Kind regards,
Mike Ivy, Rome

Great resource, Jonathan.

I've started a wiki along similar lines:

http://websiteoftheweek.pbwiki.com/Learn%20to%20Swim

Feel free to steal ideas from there, link to it, etc, and then we'll have several sources of online lesson resources.

I agree with Michael and Graham that this is a great resource!

A couple of years ago I had a similar idea of putting all the online resources that came my way onto one website but chose to target students, rather than teachers.

I have recently started a 'weekly movie' feature and am using the 'Brackenwood' series to start off with, starting on the 2nd of June.

I'm now going to have a look at the Rosyln Chapel vids so thanks for discovering these.

I shall pop by from time to time and hope you will take a quick look at http://vac.britishcouncil.or.th , should you wish to point a few students in that direction.

Best wishes,

David.
